To Fall in Love and Stay There ❤️

There is a beautiful quote often attributed to the poet Hafez:

"To fall in love is easy. To stay in love is the holiest thing in this world."

This isn't just about romantic love.

It's about remaining open-hearted in a world that gives us countless reasons to close.

Love asks something of us. Not the intoxicating rush of newness or the excitement of chemistry, but the quiet courage to stay present when life becomes uncomfortable. This is especially true in romantic love, where the initial spark eventually gives way to the daily choice of showing up with honesty, humility, and grace. To remain curious instead of defensive. To choose compassion over judgment. To soften when every instinct tells us to harden. To forgive, not because what happened didn't matter, but because we refuse to let pain have the final say over our hearts.

Our nervous systems are shaped by our experiences. Heartbreak, trauma, grief, betrayal, childhood wounds, and chronic stress all teach the body how to protect itself. We brace. We armor. We disconnect, not because we're weak, but because somewhere along the way our bodies learned that closing down was safer than staying open.

This is why healing isn't simply about reducing pain or relieving symptoms.

Healing is about remembering that it is safe to live with an open heart.

As a craniosacral therapist, I witness this every week. Clients often arrive seeking relief from headaches, jaw pain, chronic tension, anxiety, digestive issues, or fatigue. Yet beneath the physical symptoms, there is often something much deeper asking to be heard.

The body holds our stories.

When the nervous system begins to settle and the tissues soften, something remarkable happens. People breathe more deeply. Tears arise without explanation. Long-held emotions finally have permission to move. The body remembers what it feels like to rest.

And in that place of safety, something else quietly returns.

Love.

Toward your own body.

Toward life itself.

Toward a romantic partner where love is rooted in mutual respect, honesty, and a willingness to grow together.

Toward the parts of yourself you've judged, abandoned, or believed were somehow not enough.

And, when the time is right, toward forgiveness, not as permission for harmful behavior, but as a sacred act of freeing your own heart.

I don't believe the goal of healing is to become perfect.

I believe the goal is to become more available to love, connection, joy, grief, wonder, and the full experience of being human.

Because love isn't merely something we find.

It's something we become capable of sustaining.

When our nervous system no longer lives in survival mode, our hearts naturally begin to trust again.

Perhaps that is the deepest healing of all.

To fall in love may happen in an instant.

But to remain open...

To remain compassionate...

To continue choosing love, even after life has broken your heart...

To forgive without abandoning your wisdom...

To stay in love with life, with yourself, and when it is healthy and reciprocal, with another soul.

That may indeed be one of the holiest things in this world.

A Gentle Invitation

If your body has been carrying the weight of stress, trauma, grief, or emotional pain, know that healing doesn't always begin with words. Sometimes it begins with simply feeling safe enough to exhale.

At Craniosacral Therapy Reno, I help people gently unwind patterns held in the nervous system so they can reconnect with their bodies, their resilience, and their capacity to love fully again.

Your body already knows the way home.

Sometimes it simply needs the space to remember. ❤️
